Description

Crispy deep-fried pastry pockets filled with spiced potato and peas—a perfect snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • Dough:
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 2 tsp oil or ghee
    • Pinch of salt, water to knead
  • Filling:
    • 2 large potatoes, boiled & mashed
    • ¼ cup peas (fresh or frozen)
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds, ½ tsp garam masala
    • ¼ tsp turmeric, chili flakes to taste
    • Salt and lemon juice to taste
    • 1 tsp oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Make dough: mix flour + salt, rub in oil, add water little by little to form firm dough. Rest 15 min.
  2. Prepare filling: heat oil → sauté cumin, add peas, spices, then mix mashed potatoes; finish with lemon juice.
  3. Shape samosas: roll dough into small balls, flatten into circles, cut in half; form cones, fill with potato mix, seal edges.
  4. Fry: heat oil to medium-high; fry samosas until golden and crisp (about 4–5 min), turning midway.
  5. Drain & serve: remove, drain on paper towels, enjoy hot.
