Samosa
Description
Crispy deep-fried pastry pockets filled with spiced potato and peas—a perfect snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
- Dough:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp oil or ghee
- Pinch of salt, water to knead
- Filling:
- 2 large potatoes, boiled & mashed
- ¼ cup peas (fresh or frozen)
- 1 tsp cumin seeds, ½ tsp garam masala
- ¼ tsp turmeric, chili flakes to taste
- Salt and lemon juice to taste
- 1 tsp oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Make dough: mix flour + salt, rub in oil, add water little by little to form firm dough. Rest 15 min.
- Prepare filling: heat oil → sauté cumin, add peas, spices, then mix mashed potatoes; finish with lemon juice.
- Shape samosas: roll dough into small balls, flatten into circles, cut in half; form cones, fill with potato mix, seal edges.
- Fry: heat oil to medium-high; fry samosas until golden and crisp (about 4–5 min), turning midway.
- Drain & serve: remove, drain on paper towels, enjoy hot.
