Chicken Tikka Masala
Description
Yogurt-marinated chicken cooked in a creamy, spiced tomato sauce—UK’s beloved curry.
Ingredients
- 500 g chicken breast or thigh, cubed
- 100 ml yogurt
- 1 tsp each: smoked paprika, ground coriander, cumin, garam masala
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic + 1 tsp ginger, minced
- 1 can (400 g) tomato sauce or passata
- ½ cup cream or coconut milk
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Marinate chicken: combine yogurt + paprika + coriander + cumin + garam masala + salt; toss in chicken cubes; let sit 10 min.
- Cook chicken: heat oil, cook chicken until mostly done; remove and set aside.
- Make sauce: in same pan, sauté onion, garlic, ginger until soft; add tomato sauce and simmer 5 min.
- Finish curry: return chicken to pan, pour in cream/coconut milk; simmer 5–10 min until thickened.
- Serve hot with rice or naan, garnish with cilantro.
