Chicken Tikka Masala

Description

Yogurt-marinated chicken cooked in a creamy, spiced tomato sauce—UK’s beloved curry.

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken breast or thigh, cubed
  • 100 ml yogurt
  • 1 tsp each: smoked paprika, ground coriander, cumin, garam masala
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic + 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 can (400 g) tomato sauce or passata
  • ½ cup cream or coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken: combine yogurt + paprika + coriander + cumin + garam masala + salt; toss in chicken cubes; let sit 10 min.
  2. Cook chicken: heat oil, cook chicken until mostly done; remove and set aside.
  3. Make sauce: in same pan, sauté onion, garlic, ginger until soft; add tomato sauce and simmer 5 min.
  4. Finish curry: return chicken to pan, pour in cream/coconut milk; simmer 5–10 min until thickened.
  5. Serve hot with rice or naan, garnish with cilantro.
